Every town of Asturias has a weekly market day. These are bustling affairs, well-attended by local people who come both to buy and to sell their home-grown produce. Infiesto - Monday is market day in Infiesto and the main stalls are set up in the carpark by the river in the centre of town (just off the main street, Calle Covadonga). There is also an overspill into the smaller carpark off Calle Martinez Agosti. In addition to fresh, locally grown fruit, veg and flowers you can buy seedlings and plants to get your own garden off to a flying (and economical!) start. Wonderful Asturian cheeses from small producers, organic honeys and diverse chorizos are just some of the specialities that you will find on individual stalls. Villaviciosa - Wednesday is market day here. An equally bustling affair, Villaviciosa benefits from an indoor market, housed in an impressive building in the heart of town, as well as having a long line of stalls stretching down the main street and out to the edge of town. You'll find most of the fruit and veg stalls in the covered market, where there are also fishmongers, bakeries and a butchers. Many of the outdoor stalls are more devoted to clothes, dvds etc. |
