Flora of Asturias

A Natural Paradise for Wildflowers

Borage growing wild in an Asturian hedgerow

Asturias contains wonderful wooded areas, with much old-growth still preserved - you will see beech, oaks, birch, holly and many more.

Fine weather leads to great swathes of Asturias being carpeted with beautiful wild flowers. Species to be found vary from area to area, depending on such factors as proximity to the coast or height above sea level.

Many of the species found are listed as Endangered Species, - in this well-conserved environment with its wonderful climate, they flourish. The diversity and sheer colour that these flowers bestow is simply astounding.
