The 'green' of Green Spain (or Costa Verde) relates to the lush vegetation and great diversity of plant life of the region. This is thanks to a kind, oceanic climate and the influence of mountain ranges that combine to gift the area with more rainfall than the average in largely arid Spain.

Temperatures here are also kinder and less extreme than in Spain´s Southern costas or central plateau; generally speaking a pleasant few degrees warmer than in the Southern United Kingdom, with warm summers and mild winters.
