As the holiday season gets into full swing in Asturias there are fiestas and festivals galore and sometimes it´s difficult to decide where to go and what to do!! However, we were lucky enough to pick the right event last weekend as we enjoyed the lively and atmospheric "Mercau" at Ceceda, close to where we live. This bustling recreation of a medieval market had a real ambience with traditional costumes everywhere, animals galore and a wide selection of craft stalls showing superb local artisan work, including: linen, stone, wood and various foodstuffs from cheese to honey. Very well organised and with plenty of food and refreshment stands there was lots to do and see and, importantly, plenty for the kids to enjoy as well: from giant skipping ropes to stilts and clay modelling. Over two days and fetching quite a crowd on both days this was a great event blessed with perfect sunny weather.
