Following a winter of drought - November, December, January and February were marked by sunshine and the complete absence of rain here in Northern Spain - an unusually wet Spring thankfully topped up the reservoirs.
And now summer arrives, right on cue. Average temperatures currently are in the early 20s celsius (that's 70s fahrenheit), with blue skies overhead. Perfect weather for sampling the delights of one of the many local beaches and yet not so hot that you can't face doing anything else....
And with the summer, the festival season really hots up too. Last weekend it was the Sider Festival in Nava (photos and a blog on that coming soon) and all this week there are a plethora of cultural events taking place during the famous Semana Negra in Gijon.
